Over seven in ten Canadians say they have heard about Canada’s net zero climate change target (72%). Those who say they have heard of Canada’s target most often think the term means ‘not emitting more carbon than is collected’ or ‘balancing out the impact’ (38%), which is also mentioned most often by those who have not heard of Canada’s target (29%, increased from 23% in May 2022).
Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,071 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, between October 29th to 31st , 2023 as part of an omnibus survey.
The margin of error for a random survey of 1,000 Canadians is ±3.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
The research was commissioned by the University of Ottawa’s Positive Energy program and was conducted by Nanos Research.
