Most respondents (81%) say there is not enough affordable housing in their city/county, while four per cent say there is about the right amount, and 13 per cent are unsure.
When participants were asked to provide a piece of advice, residents of Quinte West most often said to repair the roads (12%), nothing (11%) and more housing/affordable housing (eight per cent), while residents of Belleville most often said more housing/affordable housing (14%), to repair the roads (nine per cent) and find a solution to the homelessness situation (eight per cent). In the case of residents of Prince Edward County, the most common responses were more housing/affordable housing (14%), to repair the roads (12%) and less tourism/AirBNB’s (12%).
When asked to rate a series of attributes of Quinte West, Belleville and Prince Edward county, residents rate the Cities/County highest as a safe place to live (means of 7.5, 7.3 and 8.4, respectively), as a place to raise a family (means of 7.4, 7.5 and 7.2) and the overall quality of life (means of 7.2, 7.3 and 7.5).
Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) random telephone survey of 746 residents of Quinte West, Belleville and Prince Edward County, 18 years of age or older, between March 10th and 18th, 2023. Participants were randomly recruited by telephone using live agents and administered a survey.
