Consumer confidence on emerging negative trajectory (Bloomberg/Nanos)

Tracking in the Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index suggests an emerging negative trend over the past four weeks. Of note both the Pocketbook and Expectations Sub-Indices showed downward pressures suggestion stress on the finances of Canadians and a less hopeful future economic outlook.

Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) telephone random survey of 1,094 respondents in Canada. This report is based on the four waves of tracking ending September 15, 2023. The margin of error for a random survey of 1,094 Canadians is ±3.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. The research was commissioned by the Bloomberg and was conducted by Nanos Research.
