About one in two Canadians believe Trump’s tariffs will end before Trump’s time as President ends (51%), with an additional one in four who believe they will last through Trump’s term as president and end afterwards (27%). Just under one in ten believe these tariffs will be permanent and continue after Trump is no longer President (nine per cent).
Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,055 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, between May 5th and 8th, 2025 as part of an omnibus survey. The margin of error for this survey is ±3.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
