Canadian consumer confidence showed negative pressure immediately on the escalation of trade tensions with the United States.  The forward looking Expectations Sub-indice declined, in a seven day period, from 51.61 to 49.70 points on the 100 point diffusion index.  Any score above 50 is positive while a score below 50 is negative. This should be monitored in terms of new trajectory for the trend line.
