An increasing proportion of Canadians want Canada to accept fewer immigrants in 2024 compared to 2023 (61%; an eight-percentage point increase from September 2023), while the proportion who want to accept more immigrants continues to decline (five per cent; 17% in 2020).
Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,006 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, between December 27th to 29th, 2023 as part of an omnibus survey. The margin of error for this survey is ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
