The research gauged the views of Canadians on ways in which to address the doctor shortage, their views on whether various types of assessments should be mandatory for physicians licensed to practice in other countries looking to move to Canada and practice medicine, and their views on various models that could be used to set standards for obtaining medical licenses and issuing medical licenses.
Nanos conducted a representative non-probability online survey of 1000 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, from May 6 to 11, 2026. The sample is geographically stratified to be representative of Canada.
A margin of error cannot be calculated on a non-probability sample. For comparison purposes, a probability sample of 1000 respondents would have a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
The research was commissioned by the Medical Council of Canada and was conducted by Nanos Research.
