The Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index moved below the neutral 50-point mark, declining from 52.81 four weeks ago to 49.86. The change reflected lower expectations for the economy and housing market, while assessments of personal finances and job security remained relatively stable. Overall confidence is below both its 2026 average and its long-term historical average, indicating a more subdued economic outlook among Canadians heading into the autumn. The last time the BNCCI was below neutral was about five months ago, in April 2026.
