Four in 10 Canadians say there is not enough law enforcement presence at the Canadian border to respond to so called “irregular border” crossings, which is a decrease from 57% in May 2018. There has been an increase in those who are unsure (23% up from 12% in May 2018). Quebec residents (53%) are most likely to say there is too little.

Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) hybrid telephone and online random survey of 1,054 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, between January 27th and 30th, 2023 as part of an omnibus survey. Participants were randomly recruited by telephone using live agents and administered a survey online. The margin of error for this survey is ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
